Have you traveled to your Homeland?

I know many people who wonder about their origins. And on their bucket list is a trip to the birthplace of their grandparents or great grandparents.

But what for, exactly?

Presumably, they hope that something special will happen – like they will feel a connection to the people and to the land. Or something will finally click and make sense about themselves.

I’m interested to hear your story.

Have you ever visited your homeland? Did you feel something special? Or if you have not gone, what do you hope to experience?

Yesterday, I posted my story about the time I visited the mountains of Lebanon to see where my great grandparents lived. And I believe I had quite a magical time.

That’s why I’m curious about your experience or your expectations, if you hope to make a trip in the future.

Wow. This post really has me thinking. For some reason I’ve yet to visit the Cape Verde islands. My grandparents immigrated to the USA from there in the 1920s and boy oh boy, I must go. Ok. It’s happening before the end of the 2012. Done and done. Thanks Kate!
